How do I measure for a Custom Bench Cover (Curved)?
This guide explains how to measure your curved bench for a custom-fitted Kuvr® garden furniture cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 5 measurements to take, labelled A to E.
Important
Provide exact measurements with no extra allowance added. Kuvr® adds a standard tolerance of +25 mm (1 in) to the width and depth for a comfortable fit; no allowance is added to the height. You can measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover.
Please include photos
Photos of your curved bench, taken from a few angles alongside your measurements, help us understand the exact shape and get your cover right from the outset — the curve varies between designs, so photos are especially useful here. Including a tape measure in shot for scale is ideal.
The measurements
A — Total width
The overall width of the bench measured straight across from one outer end to the other — not following the curve.
B — Total depth
The overall front-to-back depth of the bench at its deepest.
C — Total height
The vertical height from the floor to the top of the backrest.
D — Height to top of arm
The vertical height from the floor to the top of the arm.
E — Length around curve
The length measured along the top of the curved back, following the curve from one end to the other.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure the length around the curve?
Run a flexible tape measure — or a length of string — along the top of the curved back, following the curve from one end to the other, then read off the length. Don’t measure in a straight line across; the curve is always longer.
Do I measure with the cushions in place?
Yes. Measure the bench exactly as it will sit when covered, with any seat or back cushions in their normal positions.
What is the difference between total width and length around the curve?
Total width (A) is the straight-line distance between the two ends. Length around the curve (E) follows the curved back itself, so it is longer. We need both to shape the cover correctly.
Can I measure in inches?
Yes. Measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover. Keep the same unit throughout.
