How do I measure for a Custom Curved Back Sofa or Chair Cover?
This guide explains how to measure your curved back sofa or chair for a custom-fitted Kuvr® garden furniture cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 3 measurements to take, labelled A to C.
Important
Provide exact measurements with no extra allowance added. Kuvr® adds a standard tolerance of +25 mm (1 in) to the width and depth for a comfortable fit; no allowance is added to the height. You can measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover.

Photos of your curved back sofa or chair, taken from a few angles alongside your measurements, help us understand the exact shape and get your cover right from the outset — the curved back varies a lot between designs, so photos are especially useful here. Including a tape measure in shot for scale is ideal.
The measurements
A — Backrest depth
The horizontal distance from the wall to the front of the backrest. Push the item against a wall, then run a tape at arm or seat level back to the wall.
B — Total height
The vertical height from the floor to the highest point of the backrest.
C — Overall depth
The full front-to-back depth including the curve of the back. Push the item against a wall, then measure at ground level so the curve of the back is included.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I measure against a wall?
Because the back curves outwards, pushing the item against a wall and measuring back to the wall captures the true overall depth — including the bulge of the curved back — that a straight tape across the seat would miss.
Do I measure with the cushions in place?
Yes. Measure the item exactly as it will sit when covered, with the seat and back cushions in their normal positions.
I have a set of chairs or a curved sofa — do I measure each piece?
Measure each piece that will have its own cover. For a curved sofa, take the measurements at the widest and deepest points so the cover clears the whole frame.
Can I measure in inches?
Yes. Measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover. Keep the same unit throughout.
