How do I measure for a Custom Sofa Cover (U-Shape Sectional)?
This guide explains how to measure your U-shape sectional sofa for a custom-fitted Kuvr® Outdoor Sofa Cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 12 measurements to take, labelled A to L.
Important
Provide exact measurements with no extra allowance added. Kuvr® adds a standard tolerance of +25 mm (1 in) to the width and depth for a comfortable fit; no allowance is added to the height. You can measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover.

Photos of your U-shape sectional sofa, taken from a few angles alongside your measurements, help us understand the exact shape and get your cover right from the outset. Including a tape measure in shot for scale is ideal.
The measurements
A — Total width
The overall width across the whole U at its widest, from the outer edge of the left section to the outer edge of the right section, measured straight across.
B — Total depth
The overall front-to-back depth of the U at its deepest, from the front of the side sections back to the rear.
C — Total height
The vertical height from the floor to the top of the backrest.
D — Depth from top of cushion to rear
The horizontal distance from the front top edge of the seat cushion back to the rear of the sofa, as shown by arrow D.
E — Height to top of arm
The vertical height from the floor to the top of the arm.
F — Depth of left section
The front-to-back depth of the left side of the U, as shown by arrow F.
G — Height to top of seat
The vertical height from the floor to the top of the seat cushion.
H — Inside depth, left section
The front-to-back depth of the inner opening on the left side, as shown by arrow H.
I — Inside depth, right section
The front-to-back depth of the inner opening on the right side, as shown by arrow I.
J — Width of left section
The width of the left side of the U, as shown by arrow J.
K — Width of opening
The width of the gap between the two side sections at the front of the U, as shown by arrow K.
L — Width of right section
The width of the right side of the U, as shown by arrow L.
Frequently asked questions
Do I measure each module or the whole sofa?
Measure the whole U as one assembled piece, using the individual section dimensions labelled in the diagram (left, centre/opening and right). Don’t just measure one module and multiply — give each labelled measurement so we capture the true overall shape.
My U isn’t perfectly symmetrical — does that matter?
No. The guide asks for the left and right sides separately for exactly this reason. Measure each side as it actually is and send a couple of photos alongside your figures.
Do I measure with the cushions in place?
Yes. Measure the sofa exactly as it will sit when covered, with the seat and back cushions in their normal positions.
Can I measure in inches?
Yes. Measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover. Keep the same unit throughout.
