How do I measure for a Custom Sofa Cover (Open Frame)?

This guide explains how to measure your open-frame sofa for a custom-fitted Kuvr® Outdoor Sofa Cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 7 measurements to take, labelled A to G.

The measurements

A — Total width

The overall width of the sofa from one outer end to the other, measured straight across.

B — Total depth

The overall front-to-back depth of the sofa at its deepest.

C — Total height

The vertical height from the floor to the top of the backrest.

D — Depth from top of cushion to rear

The horizontal distance from the front top edge of the seat cushion back to the rear of the sofa, as shown by arrow D.

E — Height to top of arm

The vertical height from the floor to the top of the arm.

F — Height to top of seat

The vertical height from the floor to the top of the seat cushion.

G — Depth of arm

The front-to-back depth of the arm measured across its top, as shown by arrow G.

Frequently asked questions

Which sofa guide should I use — Armless, Left Arm, Right Arm, or Open Frame?

Pick the one that matches this section: an arm on the left only is Left Arm; an arm on the right only is Right Arm; no arms at all is Armless; a slatted or exposed metal/timber frame is Open Frame. For a modular set, measure each section to its matching guide.

Do I measure with the cushions in place?

Yes. Measure the sofa exactly as it will sit when covered, with the seat and back cushions in their normal positions.

Measure the individual section this cover is for, as it sits. If you are ordering covers for several modules, measure each one separately to its own guide.

Can I measure in inches?

Yes. Measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover. Keep the same unit throughout.
