How do I measure for a Custom Big Green Egg Cover (Nest + Handler)?

This guide explains how to measure your Big Green Egg on its nest with handler for a custom-fitted Kuvr® Big Green Egg Cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 6 measurements to take, labelled A to F.

The measurements

A — Total width

The overall width of the Egg across its widest point, including the handle, measured from directly above.

B — Total height

The vertical height from the floor (base of the wheels) up to the very top of the chimney cap.

C — Total width between wheels

The width across the nest, measured between the wheels on the left-to-right axis.

D — Total depth between wheels

The front-to-back depth across the nest, measured between the wheels.

E — Height of lid

The height of the domed lid only, from the band where the lid meets the base up to the base of the chimney.

F — Diameter (width) of top smoke exit

The width across the metal chimney cap at the top of the lid.

Frequently asked questions

Do I include the chimney cap in the height?

Yes. The total height is measured to the very top of the metal chimney cap on the lid, with the lid closed.

Which guide should I use?

Choose the guide that matches your setup — the Egg on its own, on a nest with handler, on a nest with straight or angled shelves, or built into a table. If you’re between options, send photos and we’ll confirm the right one.

Should I measure the metal bands and hinge?

Yes. For the widths, measure to the outermost points — including the metal bands, the rear hinge and any side handle — so the cover clears them.

Can I measure in inches?

Yes. Measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover. Keep the same unit throughout.
