How do I measure for a Custom L-Shape Sofa Cover (Curved)?

This guide explains how to measure your curved L-shape sofa for a custom-fitted Kuvr® garden furniture cover, including each required measurement, where to take it, and how to record it accurately. There are 16 measurements to take, labelled A to P.

Important

Provide exact measurements with no extra allowance added. Kuvr® adds a standard tolerance of +25 mm (1 in) to the width and depth for a comfortable fit; no allowance is added to the height. You can measure in centimetres, inches, or metres — you choose your preferred unit when you configure the cover.

Please include photos

Photos of your curved L-shape sofa, taken from a few angles alongside your measurements, help us understand the exact shape and get your cover right from the outset. Including a tape measure in shot for scale is ideal.

The measurements

A — Total width

Total width is the overall width of the sofa, measured straight across the front from the outer edge of one end to the outer edge of the other, at the widest point.

B — Total depth

Total depth is the overall front-to-back depth of the sofa, measured at the deepest point (usually along the longer return).

C — Total height

Total height is the vertical distance from the ground to the highest point of the sofa, usually the top of the backrest. Measure straight up.

D — Depth of right section

This is the front-to-back depth of the right-hand section. Measure straight back from the front edge to the rear.

E — Depth of left section

This is the front-to-back depth of the left-hand section. Measure straight back from the front edge to the rear.

F — Inside corner radius

This is the radius of the curved inside corner where the two sections meet. Measure the radius of the inner curve.

G — Inside length, left section

This is the length along the inside (front-facing) edge of the left-hand section.

H — Inside length, right section

This is the length along the inside (front-facing) edge of the right-hand section.

I — Depth of left side

This is the front-to-back depth of the left-hand end of the sofa.

J — Back length, left section

This is the length measured along the top of the backrest for the left-hand section.

K — Back length, corner

This is the length measured along the top of the backrest around the curved corner.

L — Back length, right section

This is the length measured along the top of the backrest for the right-hand section.

M — Depth of right side

This is the front-to-back depth of the right-hand end of the sofa.

N — Height to top of seat cushion

This is the vertical height from the ground to the top of the seat cushion. Measure straight up at the seat.

O — Height to top of arm

This is the vertical height from the ground to the top of the arm. Measure straight up at the arm.

P — Depth from top of cushion to rear

This is the horizontal distance from the front edge of the seat cushion straight back to the rear of the sofa.

Frequently asked questions

Should I measure with the cushions in place?

Measure with the seat and back cushions in place, as the sofa normally sits. The cover is made to fit over the cushions, so their height and depth matter.

What if my sofa has a different number of seats or a slightly different shape?

Measure the closest layout shown here and send photos of your sofa. We confirm the exact pattern from your measurements and images before cutting.

Should I measure the sofa or my old cover?

Measure the sofa itself, with any existing cover removed. Measuring over an old cover adds thickness and gives an oversized result.
